What is Milk?

I would like to start this conversation with some real stories.

One fine day I was sitting with one of my friends, when she received call from her friend who was telling her that he had changed his milk supplier and the milk he supply having some smell, its color is not pure white… it’s more like creamy color… kids don’t like the taste of the milk … might be due to the smell…

This happened because the quality of milk was good enough and not easily available in market. The family member developed the habit and taste of adulterated milk hence they were not comfortable with the PURE milk…

Another of my friend who has recently shifted to new milk supplier having issue of variation in MALAI… he used to get same quantity of MALAI earlier…

In this case again the quality of milk was very good that is the reason there was variation in MALAI.. for your information I should tell you that the MALAI or FAT component in PURE milk depends on the diet structure of cattle and there must be fluctuation in the quantity of MALAI / FAT in PURE milk unless there is some twisting in the milk… this is because of the fact that just like human, cattle are given feed having various combination..

Clarification: In both the above case the new milk supplier is not from any of the branded milk.

Today everyone wants to have everything that is PURE and QUALITY but we don’t know how to evaluate the degree of PURITY or QUALITY…. we blindly rely on the brand of the product and based on the brand we imagine the PURITY & QUALITY…

Now the question is how to find out the purity of milk…but before this I would like to highlight some of the way of adulteration done…

  • So many people get the milk directly from tabela, and milking is done in front of them and we are happy to get this milk and assume its 100% PURE… But I would like to highlight here that mixing water in milk is not the only way.. there are so many other ways like:
  • Feeding something to cattle which directly or indirectly increase the quantity of milk, like UREA… now this UREA goes in the milk produced and from there it goes to the human body… now you can imagine the effect of urea in human body, specially if such milk is given to new born baby or kid…
  • There are so many medicines and injections are available in the market which increased the quantity of milk but at the same time the contents of milk changed and very much harmful for us..
  • Other than these, there are number of ways of adulteration post milking .. like adding water or by removing the cream or by adding artificial agents etc… it is not possible for us to get the lab testing done for everyday milk before using it.. also we don’t have much choice… because most of the milk brands available in the markets are almost same…

Do you know when was the milking done of the packaged milk available in retail shop?? Try to find out… this is at least 7-8 days old.. now imagine the PURITY…

How to test the PURITY of milk? You can visit the below link to get the detail of PURITY test: https://foodsafetyhelpline.com/2014/03/fssai-shares-the-testing-methods-for-adulteration-in-milk-milk-products/

My purpose of writing this blog is to make people aware of the milk and I will keep adding the information. Shall wait for any suggestion comment
